Our American Quarter Horses
Dating back to the mid-1600s, the American Quarter Horse is one of the oldest and most popular horse breeds in the United States. Originally bred for racing over short distances, this breed's agility and kind nature made it a popular choice amongst pioneers by the 19th century and the Quarter Horse has called our hearts "home" ever since. In 1940, the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) was organized and today, as the largest horse breeders' organization in the world, it boasts more than 2.5 million horses registered in its studbook. We here at River's Bend Ranch are focused on breeding foundation bloodlines to preserve the quality of the Quarter Horse that we love! Historically, we have had stallions stand at stud here and we are still home to two of our old stallions, "Hanks Poco Jessie" and "Lenas Genesis", who we love dearly and we are so proud to be home to their sons and daughters!

Lenas StudleyBorn May 02, 2010, "Casanova" is a gorgeous stallion with unlimited potential. He is not yet standing at stud with us at River's Bend Ranch but stay tuned for more information as we work towards establishing a Quarter Horse breeding program using classic foundation bloodlines to create good-minded, able-bodied equine citizens in the Shenandoah Valley community!

Jessie's Moon LadyBorn May 27, 2012, "Kit" is a lovely example of what foundation bloodlines were chosen for: this mare is a bulldog! She has not been started undersaddle yet but this mare has a kind temperament and is a sensitive, intelligent mare that will pass on her exquisite build and wonderful brain to her colts.
